Neighborhood Details
Hyde Park is an area in Central Austin that is bounded by W. 38th Street, W. 51st Street, Duval Street and Guadalupe Street. Hyde Park was first laid out by Morton Martin Shipe in the 1890s. He hoped to sell Victorian mansions to Austin’s growing upper-middle class but later adjusted his target market and built smaller homes to accommodate Austin’s working families. Shipe built both large and small homes and now Hyde Park is a neighborhood filled with generously sized, turn-of-the-century homes and cozy bungalows. Although Hyde Park is one of Austin’s most densely populated neighborhoods, it maintains a sense of comfort and community. The quintessential neighborhood is ideal for any homebuyer who enjoys quiet streets, neighborhood parks and a welcoming community.
