Founded in 1883, The University of Texas at Austin is a institution of higher education in the capital of Texas.  Known for its iconic UT Austin Tower, the structure looks south to the capital in downtown Austin, just blocks away.  It is the second largest of the state universities with an enrollment of over 50,000.  It features a host of dorm residences, including the 27-story residence hall at the Dobie Center.  The sprawling campus takes up 423 acres.  It includes Lyndon Johnson’s Presidential Library and a large football coliseum, Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium.  Blanton Museum of Art is on campus proper as well, offering premier exhibits and events.  The UT Austin mascot is the Longhorn, and its image pervades all of Austin life, with a rabid fan base hoping to “Hook ’em Horns”!
